Eric Jensen is a former teacher and educational leader who grew up in San Diego, California. With a Ph.D. in Human Development, he synthesizes brain research and develops practical applications for K-12 educators. Jensen has written 30 books including the bestsellers Teaching with Poverty in Mind, Engaging students with Poverty in Mind, and Turnaround Tools for the Teenage Brain. Dr. Jensen co-founded a brain-compatible academic enrichment program, SuperCamp, now held in 16 countries with over 65,000 graduates.

Kantis Simmons is a former rocket scientist at NASA Langley Research Center and an international STEM speaker. As a leading school success strategist, Simmons aims to forestall the academic failure epidemic, teacher turnover rate, and trillion dollars student debt crisis sweeping across America's schools and colleges. Simmons inspires students, parents, and educators to skyrocket their performance in school and life. Dr. Cristina Rodríguez Chen, owner of Teaching and Learning Connections, is a bilingual (native Spanish speaker) professional educator, with over 22 years of leadership experience in the areas of Bilingual/ESL, General Education, Gifted and Talented, Special Education diagnostics, programming, and support services. Dr. Rodríguez Chen received her Ph.D. from the University of North Texas. Her areas of concentration were in Mild/Moderate Disabilities and Educational Leadership. Her dissertation topic focused on Culturally Competent Evaluations for Special Education. She has served as a special education administrator for over 15 years.
Justin Vawter lives on the fringe of education, a creative spark working tirelessly to redefine the educational narrative and make the learning experience more impactful and meaningful. For over a decade, Justin has taught middle schoolers, high schoolers, and adults and has numerous awards and grants for outstanding teaching and innovative concepts for the classroom and was most recently recognized as the 2019 Texas Association for the Gifted and Talented (TAGT) Advocate for the Gifted. Justin believes that with responsive curriculum, inspired instruction, and expanded identification, we can close the equity gap and bring advanced learning to the forefront of education.
For the past 22 years, Dr. Swanson has served the field of education as a special education teacher, college instructor, researcher, public speaker, and writer. Swanson's focus has been on improving educational opportunities for struggling readers and students with learning disabilities. She is currently a Research Associate Professor in the Department of Special Education at The University of Texas at Austin and the Meadows Center for Preventing Educational Risk. Dr. Swanson has co-authored two books, authored many teacher-focused practice guides, and has published more than 55 articles in peer reviewed journals focused on literacy instruction in grades K-8.

As the hallways empty of students in the 19-20 school year, Mabank ISD prepares to host 800 teachers, administrators, counselors, and educational professionals from across Texas. This conference, June 3rd-5th, is a professional development experience like no other.
